Kill Devil Hills received its municipal charter from the North Carolina General Assembly on March 6, 1953. Since then, we have become a very popular family vacation retreat.
Situated in the near geographic middle of the northern Dare County beaches, Kill Devil Hills is the largest municipality in Dare County with a year-round population of almost 7,000 people. We are proud to be the site of the first heavier-than-air powered flight.
